LLB
Bachelor of Laws (LLB)
The Bachelor of Laws is the qualifying academic law degree and the foundation of the legal education pathway in Ghana. The Council sets minimum standards for the curriculum, admission, assessment, and graduation that every accredited institution must follow. The curriculum is developed in consultation with accredited institutions and reviewed every five years so that it accords with contemporary demands for legal services. It combines theoretical study with practice-based skills: advocacy, interviewing and counselling, legal research, applied legal writing, pre-trial preparation, trial practice, transactional skills, alternative dispute resolution, professional ethics, and training in information technology.

Law Practice Training
Law Practice Training is the one-year professional programme that bridges the Bachelor of Laws degree and the National Bar Examination. A person who holds an LLB degree must undergo Law Practice Training in order to qualify to sit the examination. Instruction covers civil procedure including the law of evidence in civil litigation; criminal procedure including the law of evidence in criminal trials; advocacy, ethics, and the practice of law, including law practice management, basic accountancy, and professional responsibility; conveyancing and drafting; and the law of evidence. It also carries a practical component: providing legal services to needy clients through clinical legal education, working as a law clerk for a judge or magistrate, working in an administrative agency, and active engagement in a law firm. On successful completion, the institution awards a Law Practice Training Certificate.

National Bar Examination
The National Bar Examination is the final professional assessment before enrolment on the Roll of Lawyers. It is administered by the National Bar Examination Committee, which sets its standard and format and determines the manner and period in which it is conducted. Unless the Council decides otherwise by unanimous decision, the examination covers civil procedure, criminal procedure, advocacy, ethics and the practice of law, conveyancing and drafting, and the law of evidence. Assessment methods must test the ability of candidates to apply the fundamental principles of law to practical legal problems. A person who fails may re-sit the examination on payment of the prescribed fee.
PCLC
Post-Call Law Course
The Post-Call Law Course is administered by the Ghana School of Law, a directorate of the Council established under section 77 of Act 1170. It serves lawyers admitted to practise in a country with a system of law analogous to Ghana's, under a reciprocal arrangement, who seek admission to practise in Ghana. Successful completion, together with a pass in the National Bar Examination, allows the Council to recommend a person for enrolment on the Roll of Lawyers.
