National Bar Examination Committee constituted

The Committee oversees the conduct and standards of the National Bar Examination.

The Chief Justice has constituted the inaugural National Bar Examination Committee under section 65 of the Legal Education Act, 2026 (Act 1170).

The Committee is responsible for conducting and administering the National Bar Examination, the final professional assessment before enrolment on the Roll of Lawyers. Its functions include setting the standard and format of the examination, assigning responsibility for invigilation and marking, securing examination scripts, hearing appeals against results, and issuing qualifying certificates to successful candidates.

The Committee draws its members from the Board, the Judiciary, the Bar, and academia. The Chief Justice appoints as chairperson a member who has been a law lecturer for not less than ten years.
