Entry requirements and minimum standards for LLB admission to be published

The requirements will be binding on all accredited institutions.

The Council for Legal Education and Training will shortly publish the minimum entry requirements for admission to Bachelor of Laws programmes at all accredited institutions. Section 45(3) of the Legal Education Act, 2026 (Act 1170) requires the Council to determine and publish these requirements, and makes them binding on every institution.

Institutions are advised to align their admission policies accordingly. Admission standards must assess whether a student has the capacity to complete the law programme and to practise law effectively, and must be applied fairly and transparently.

The requirements will appear on the admissions page of this website when published.
